i have a solution for both of us. Send a handful of American chef’s to study their cuisine for a year. Return them, improve it, no need to Indian’s running Indian restaurants, or millions of Indians. Problem Solved.

It seems like most of them keep to themselves and don't really cause trouble in society. I think many of them end up becoming very productive members of society like doctors and engineers.
There's a large diaspora where I live, and my conclusion is that there are certainly much worse and less desirable groups of people to live around.
Just my $0.02.
And please don't mock my silly hashtag shtick. Thank you.

You know they own most motels in this country.

I like Indian food. I know how to cook Indian food. I rarely cook Indian food because the smell takes days to leave.

They tend to do better with the English language.

It is the future.

We were lied to.

“They don’t cause trouble” is a pretty low bar for immigration policy.
Nobody said your neighbors have to be bad people for the H-1B program to deserve scrutiny. Nice family. Productive worker. Great. Could an American do the same job?
The Department of Labor says employers generally aren’t required to recruit Americans before hiring through H-1B, with additional requirements for certain employers. Hard to sell me on a shortage when companies generally don’t even have to look here first. (dol.gov)
And let’s pump the brakes on the doctors angle. In FY2023, according to 65% of approved H-1B petitions were for computer-related jobs. Median compensation across approved petitions was $118,000. Those are careers Americans would like a shot at, too.
Need a particular specialist? Fine. Demonstrate the shortage. Recruit Americans first. Pay competitive wages. If bringing families is part of the deal, account for the broader benefits and costs. A company wanting more hiring options isn’t automatically a national interest.
“There are worse people to live around” isn’t much of an argument. Are we improving opportunities for American workers or expanding the applicant pool for employers?
Your neighbors being nice and their cuisine doesn’t settle that question. Nor will it, ever.

Well, Klark, I must say that is a very well thought out response. It's clear you've studied and researched this matter to a great extent, and I'll defer to your expertise.

They’re fricking everywhere in Texas. They’re the reason why Texas is turning blue which will be the death knell of the US and by extension western civilization.
And in the short term, they’ve taken over most hotels, gas stations, and Subways. And all those places smell bad and feel dingy.
If you don’t live in Texas, you don’t understand.
