Lot of truth in that

Castor oil and iodine (AKA Monkey's Blood) does not fix everything

Too late. I would have recruited as many experienced RN's to go to the hospital on that day. New Interns were always fun.

Well, Parallax, we are taught and required to abide by, "if it's not written, it didn't happen".
Sorry you don't like it, but that is just the way it is. Docs can avoid it by listening and responding. Nurses can make it better by helping the doc figure out a solution, making a recommendation. I've almost always had a good outcome when doing this. Doc's are human, there is only so much information a brain can process in one day.

Or, better yet, a way to prevent Nurses from calling Docs is to do away with nurses.

Anytime I have gone to the hospital, I seen the nurse more than the doctor. It all depends on the person, but in general nurses have the opportunity to develop more of a relationship with the patient than the doctor, so they are able to see things from a case to case basis opposed to doctors, who can sometimes make a more general diagnosis.

You may see the doctor for only 5 or 10 minutes, but before he/she saw you, they had to review your chart carefully, looking at labs, vitals, previous physician documentation and diagostic studies and talk to the nurse about your case. And after leaving your room, they had to go back to the chart and order things and dictate a history and physical or progress note.

Scruffy refers to himself in the 3rd person often. Is this carryover from the hospital? Is it his god complex?

Dr. Scruffy saved another one.

Dr. Scruffys gonna go pinch a loaf. Can you pull my charts for me?

Dr. Scruffy spends too much time in the hospital, and his pool boy has been in the house several times to "use the bathroom". Mrs. Dr. Scruffy does not seem to mind.

Don't call Dr. Scruffy after 9pm for silly shite. Save all calls for 6AM. Just don't kill my patients. You will anger Dr. Scruffy.
