You have no clue what you're talking about. Look at a map prior to 1948 and you'll see that area was called the British Mandate for Palestine. Before that, the Ottoman Turks referred to the area as Palestine. And censuses taken after World War I indicated that there were almost 600,000 Palestinian Muslims in what is now Israel compared to less than 85,000 Jews. Most Jews now living in Israel have been there for less than a century.

I'm not asking this to you, but in general and in the context of this discussion over original right to the territory -

Who cares? When did this natural law right to possess territory you can't reclaim or defend arise?

Naysayers will inevitably talk about whether Israel can "naturally" do either - as though some ability to organically defend with homegrown defenders is the natural state of the world. I just find the entire concept of this debate bizarre.

Palestine has a long history of being on the wrong side of "frick around and find out" moments with Israel. They should have lost a lot of the land they now want as a spoils of war.

At this point Israel could probably do without US money since all the money is is just filtering right back to US sources to prop up military spending and research.

I think that’s why they were persecuted to start. I also think that during medieval times they were forbidden from apprenticing in respectable trades such as carpentry and blacksmithing and farming and were forced to do the less respected trades such as banking and law (my how opinions have changed). Today, people hate the influence Jewish people have in law and finance.

They are also a very easy “other” as they have historically stayed aloof socially (see the previous comments about being chosen by the one true God).

No its about a group of squatters calling themselves Palestinians, when there has never been a nation or country called Palestine. A group of people so outcast, not one other MIDDLE EASTERN country will take them in or give them land either.

Brush up on your middle eastern history and the history of the area now recognized as Israel. Nobody is blameless here and the Jewish people now have the upper hand.

It’s pertinent to the discussion mainly with Boudin Man that claims Palestine never existed then changed his tune to that it they were conquered. Well technically so was Israel many times and was actually an Arab state prior to post WWI division of the ME

There was no widespread persecution, as we think of it, until Christianity became the predominant religion of the Roman Empire.

Before that time, any sort of violent actions taken against the Jews were your general political/military actions taken by conquering peoples. There was no "let's get them because they worship one god" thing.

The rejection of nuance on this topic is astonishing.

Conservatives are basically BLM when it comes to Israel.

It’s even worse because they refuse to read the second half of the book that explains how they aren’t special anymore.

Like this one?

Jesus answered, "I am the way and the truth and the life. No one comes to the Father except through me.

That's exactly what it is. The right-wing's SJW narrative in this country is Israel. Their lobby is masterful at using the emotions of millions of Americans to get them to support policies that benefit Israel and make defense contractors (and the former politicians and family members of current politicians) tons of money, all paid for by the American taxpayer.

Yep they either go off about how it's the Holy land or Israel is an innocent country in a region full of evil Muslims.

So accurate. Republicans are so cucked over Israel.

Rome rules over dozens of not hundreds of religions, yet really only felt the need to crack down on Jews.

Rome cracked down on tons of different religions over its territories. The Jews got it bad because they rebelled against Roman rule and slaughtered Roman citizens across the east on 3 different occasions with the Bar Kokbah Revolt being the largest and most destructive. Two to three Legions and hundreds of thousands of Jews were killed because Judea refused to accept Roman authority. It was never about religion, Romans actually had a sort of begrudging respect for Judaism because it was so old even if it was a weird religion in their eyes for its monotheism.

Fun fact after this revolt was crushed by Hadrian, he renamed the territory Syria-Palaestina..

And this is just ancient history too, Jews have been kicked out of 110 different nations throughout history too. Most recently in Yemen although I cant imagine there were many Jews left there at that point anyways. But this isnt even getting into Israel's crimes of selling our tech to the Chinese, spying on our Congress, buying our Representatives through AIPAC, bombing the USS Liberty to frame Egypt, I could go on. But Christians adulation of Israel because they are "the chosen people" is a large reason why we are in this fricking mess today.
