To add to this the west wants a foothold in the ME and has wanted one ever since the start of the Cold War. Israel is that foothold so our government and media will do whatever they can to make sure the people blindly support them.

You conflate "our" interests with our political class's interests. There are $3.5 billion reasons every year why American politicians love Israel. That money is shoestrung to defense contractors and weapons manufacturers. How many lifelong politicians, their family members, lobbyists, bureaucrats and ex-miliary work or consult for these companies in some form? The very Deep State that Trump Republicans love to hate is funded by the same people Republicans don't want you to criticize.

There is a difference in being an "ally" and an actual ally or friend. We only deem SA an ally for their oil and weapons deals.

But hey I can see this is all you got, trying to pull out a gotcha over a technicality

I quoted the wrong post so that is my bad...

But you go on to say in your next post that the Saudis are our allies as well.

So how can the media give a pass to Israel because they're our ONLY allies while the Saudis (and the Jordanians as another poster pointed out)?

So, is Israel our only true ally in the ME not?

Many replies in that twitter thread say it's a tree burning. Not a building.

But what definition are you working on?

I think it is strange that insulting Israel = insulting Jews.

If you insult France are you insulting French Americans and Cajuns?

The media ignores the shite SA does because they're our ally in the sense that we make deals with them but we will occasionally see them talk about actual problems with SA like the Khashoggi event

However Israel is the only country in the middle east that is an actual ally in the sense that they won't pull some shite like kill ab American reporter

More like we're only allied with the Saudis because of oil and our history with Iran. (Which is why we are ignoring the genocide in Yemen) Kind of like the enemy of my enemy is my friend thing. While Israel exists pretty much for us and the west to make sure Russia doesn't take over the ME

What does Yemen do for the US that we should make it our business?

Just like we we put our shite in Afghanistan and they don't GAF about American values or principles and as soon as the last boot leaves the ground, Al Qaeda will immediately take over. Hell, they're already shooting mortars at American facilities because we didn't hit the amount of troops out by a certain deadline.

Israel won the war (the last one, anyways) that established the borders, but nobody wants to abide by that. Yet, they are the entire problem according to some of y'all.

Why are you concerned about Yemen?

And iii) the disproportionate representation of Jews amongst Nobel prize winners. On that front you have to hand it to the Jews. As a people they value education above all else. If only they knew math and science were tools of white supremacy!

I'm not saying we should do anything. But the media ignores it all the while we are doing weapons deals with the Saudis. Meanwhile you have warhawks in congress saying we have to stay to protect the people of Afghanistan.

Not the entire problem but you can't ignore the shite Israel has pulled.

We sell weapons to a myriad of countries. (96 if you go by wiki)

Why do you care if we sell weapons to Israel?

Also, I don't see the downside of not letting Russia take over the ME.

Should we just let them have it? Are you aware global oil markets are determined by the ME?

Israel should just go ahead and annex the West Bank and be done with this shite. I imagine that will happen in the next 10 years judging by the number of Muslim countries officially starting to recognize them and a Palestinian diaspora being more integrated into neighboring nations. Palestine will never exist unless Israel is erased off of the map and if that does happen Israel will use the Samson option and nuke their neighbors. I don’t like Israel particularly for a multitude of reasons but I prefer them over another hostile Muslim nation.
