Iran's main effort will be asymmetric. Try to interdict the Persian Gulf, which would bring us into the conflict. Terrorism through proxies. Etc.

After sustaining such an embarrassing attack, I figure that the regime in Iran may well struggle to hold power for any length of time.

We’re already involved. Israel used U.S. controlled Iraqi airspace and Iran has already vowed retaliation against not only Israel, but us as well. U.S. intel was used in Israeli offensive and continues to be used preparing the defensive, in which we have a physical part. They’re coming at us and that’s really all she wrote.
We have an obligation to Israel and the rest of the world to police nuclear development and warfare. The ongoing and forbidden development in secret meant we were going to be a part of this, no two ways about it.

It’s more about putting Iran in check than standing for Israel in my opinion. It’s impractical not to engage in foreign affairs, especially given the power we are.

That's not how international affairs works. It's advantageous for us to protect our allies and deter enemy states from gaining power. That's doesn't necessarily mean hard power like war but can also just be us trading or investing in certain areas of other states. It's why the idea of us being strictly isolated is either ignorant or short sighted.
That being said there are many reasons why we shouldn't be investing with Israel as much as we have been

Again, it’s not about Israel you dolt. I don’t give a double circumcised frick about their state or their beliefs. It’s about Iran and making sure their nuclear capability stays not a thing in our world.
