My wife's birthday (NO PICS) is Friday and I am thinking of taking her for a quick trip to one of the MS Gulf coast casino's for the weekend. I've only stayed at The IP, Hard Rock, and Beau Rivage. I see that the Island View Casino in Gulfport just built a new Beach Tower with a smoke free casino. It looks pretty nice but I was wondering of anyone has been there? How does it compare to the others that I mentioned above?

Don't make plans. Your wife and I are flying out to Vegas for her birthday.

Take her. I would rather watch the LSU game with my friends anyway.

Why a casino? Just rent a place in BSL, like Bay Towne Inn or an AirBnB, and kick it on the coast.

I prefer to park my truck on Friday night upon arrival and not leave the property until Sunday.

OK. So now that we have all of that out of the way. Has anyone been to the Island View? Any opinions? Nice or not? How does it compare to the Hard Rock or Beau Rivage?

I have been there a number of times (too many).

If you want to watch the game, find another place other than your room.

I found the TV's a little small in both towers.

The rooms in the Beach Tower are smaller than the rooms in the original building, both have the same 42 inch TV's.

As far as the quality, it is just a step above staying at a Motel 6 unless you spring for a suite. It is also a weekend and prepare thy anus. But the price is high at all casinos on the weekends now especially with the overnight gamblers that come in to place bets on Saturday for College football and then bet again on Professional football on Saturday.

If you really want a nice place and money is no object, the Beau or Hard Rock is your best bet.

If you are staying free, then it is okay. Because I just need the room to sleep and shower.

Thanks Tarp. I plan to watch the game either in the Sports Book or one of the bars. I believe they are having a watch party in one of the showrooms as well. I am not staying for free but the rate was $159 per night which I thought was a good weekend rate. I checked the Hard Rock and Beau Rivage. Both were over $200 per night but the main thing was that neither had a King size bed available for this weekend.

I concur. Especially when he said this:

The smoke free Island is smaller but not as crowded.

It is very nice and not having to deal with the smoke is great. They have plenty of restaurants in the casino and downtown Gulfport has come great places to eat.

Thanks but the other guy said it is just one step up from a Motel 6.
