A massive fire is burning at the Island Dunes Condo on Perdido Beach Boulevard — that’s on Cotton Bayou near Cottons restaurant.
No cause yet on how it started, but a city official says it started around 3 am.
Cottons Restaurant and a Remax Office are threatened, as well as a wooded area near the two-story condo.

Really hate this for the owners. Had a family condo in Cocoa Beach get destroyed by a hurricane back in the early 2000s. Never could get everyone to agree on reconstructing it. Still just a vacant lot over 10 years later.

Land was worth way more than shitty condos.

They will sell out and phoenix XXXII will go there.

From what I have heard 2nd hand, the place didn't have any type of sprinkler system. Dunno if that's true or not, but that placewas made of sticks and bound to catch on fire or get knocked down by another hurricane

Well now your getting closer to the reason this happened.

Dump
Trmendous property
Expensive to demolish/rebuild
Win win if it burns...get check and demolition is paid
Clean property and profit

That's excellent timing. Collect the Labor Day bookings and probably still in the grace period for the Sept mortgage payment.

Russel Drive - that's a mile long one lane road leading to the condo.

The condo is on the main strip, it is not on Russel

They are going to build some new condo with a huge dock and clog up the boat ramp next door. status quo for OB

There's a small chain of ponds back in those woods that's very hard to get to but has some excellent fresh water fishing if you don't mind the hike. Some more lakes/ponds behind Live Bait as well.
