I assume a lot of people who be on his arse over that. I wonder how ISIS would react to that.

I'm sure they would. I'm also wondering how they would react if our president just ignored them.

Of course not. He's the real life John Rambo.

Not even worth discussing it with him. He will never come off the opinion that he would be defiant to the final end, regardless of what carrot was dangled in front of him.

Proclaiming to know how you would act in a similar situation is beyond ignorant.

Making this argument with a bunch of Catholics is just worthless. They all think they started Christianity with Peter.

What, you think it just hung about on its own for 1500 odd years before popping back up as Protestantism?

You know, them Protesting the original church?

I stand by all of those statements, especially the last one.

ETA: nice deflection.

I don't. To me there are just fundamental differences. Baptist and me are close. Some Methodists ride in the same boat....Catholics are like on the other side of the river.

Catholics started Christianity with the Emperor Constantine. 325 years after Jesus died.

I added up all the numbers from around the world that were on that wiki page.

Honestly that's pretty peaceful in the grand scheme of history.

Those of you who are arguing over terminology in religion are wasting your time. People who care, you know the ones in here caring enough to post, are not changing their mind and their beliefs.

Give it up and let's get back on topic and discuss the awful beheading of an American citizen by middle eastern thugs.

Yes. That's when it actually got some force and power behind it and really started to grow.

The Roman Catholic Church was NOT the first Christian church. I believe it was in Armenia or Turkey and would be more similar to Eastern Orthodox churches today. The idea that Peter directly started the church as the first pope is pure crap

To be fair, they were even more violent in the past.

Of course, everyone was.

I would say Christianity was going pretty strong in the moments just after Christ was crucified. You might want to read Paul's work.
