yep. I live in Folsom and a lot of people I know here rarely lock their house or car. I grew up in New Orleans so out of habit I still do.

Locking doors is about stupid since almost every house can be broken into through glass in a door or a window.

You want to actually stop someone when you aren't home you need a security system.

Always locked at my house. Had attempted truck theft in my driveway, wheel stolen on one car, emblems stolen on another, window bashed out in yet another vehicle. On top of that, once had a rock thrown through living room window. Yes, I have lived on a corner of a busy street for many years, but neighborhood has been changing on what was once considered a very high end subdivision....

I’d be fine with the door unlocked. But I lock it anyway and since for the moment this is still America I also have guns ready.

I have no idea whether my doors are locked or not. When I get sleepy I go to bed.

My kitchen windows are wide open for the nice cool air.

My bedroom window is wide open. When I’m sleeping someone could reach in and touch me. I took the screen off so the cat can come in and out at night.

IDGAF and damn sure ain’t scared.

maybe ... there are a lot of house and car break ins in my area but I know we've left the doors unlocked a few times. And one night I left the car door open by mistake ... and nothing happened.

Couldn’t do this in a place like New Orleans for example. Would be robbed blind and possibly killed

This is a silly statement. It depends on where in New Orleans, just like anywhere else.

Even if you live out in the woods, some animals can open doors. Bears and such. Seems like a poor choice

I have left the front door open (as in ajar) quite a few times. So I guess so.

Sure. We're not very disciplined about locking the doors. We're in a high-walled, gated neighborhood, and you'd think it was completely safe. Surprisingly to me, though, security cameras that various people have around the neighborhood, will occasionally show shady types walking around the hood in the middle of the night. They post these to our HOA FaceBook group.
