While producing smaller geared equipment, a bit surprised that in the discussion of Japanese companies Shimano hasn’t been mentioned, especially with the common past time enjoyed by many members of this board.

On the music side, their pianos are great but I'd prefer a Korg or Kurzweil to one of their synths. Would also prefer Peavey equipment for sound. Still great top of the line stuff from Yamaha though. I'm just very picky with my preferences for music gear, and that's not to say that there's anything wrong with Yamaha.

Think about it. Every product they produce, no matter how diverse their portfolio, is known for rock solid quality and durability.

Toyota/Lexus engines
Musical Instruments
Sound Equipment
Marine Engines
Personal Watercraft

Absolutely nothing they make is junk.

They have some great Motorcycles also. Mine has over 100K miles on it and it has had zero motor issues.

Yamaha Motors and Yamaha Corporation operate as two independent companies. Motors was spun off way back in the 50s. The only thing they share is the brand name.

Ain’t nobody be affording a Rolex when we got Honda and Yamaha SXS’s to buy. I guess I’ve never really seen the draw to Rolex. Every time I want to blow 12k to 20k I buy something way cooler.

Agreed. Can live with a $300-$400 tissot. Don't get the draw to wearing $5k on your wrist.

Will be buying a pair of jetski's or a tricked out golf cart after my truck is paid off

I have a Yamaha golf cart as well. Will probably never buy another brand.

I heard they are all horizontal in the east. It's always pixelated so I can never confirm.

No manufacturer can touch Honda when it comes to small engines. Took my Honda portable generator to the LSU tailgate last weekend. Tailgates on both side of us also had one. Theyre so quiet you wouldn't have known there was a generator being used if you didn't look.

Best 4 wheeler ever made.

Engine, yes, but they can be killed

The engine is just a bored out version of the one on the Big Red 250cc three wheeler. I've swapped many parts between the two over the years.

but they can be killed and die often due to the horrible design of the rear differential.

Been preaching this for many year. The rear end is junk. They're fine if you never take them in any kind of mud or water. Other than that, they eat axles and ring/pinion gears. One thing I do suggest people do is mix some Lucas oil stabilizer in with the gear oil in the differential. It helps keep mud and dirt out.

And for all of you saying Honda 4 wheelers are the gold standard, find me one whose drum brakes actually work. They're out there, but rare. Those brakes have been a problem that started way back in the 3 wheeler era and has never been resolved.

The mail problem is, no one ever takes the plugs out the drums and adjust the shoes. They just run them until they don't work anymore and forget about it and next thing you know you need wheel cylinders and everything else. Proper, consistent maintenance really help alleviate the issues, but nobody, and I mean NOBODY, takes the time to do what they're supposed to.

Still using a 1985 Honda TRX 250 to deer hunt:

(Not mine, but just like it)

I let my Pops ride the newer 2013 Rincon and I ride the old 250.

Gonna get a Pioneer 700 side by side one of these days, just haven’t pulled the trigger on it yet.

Convenient just leaving the old 250 at the deer lease all year locked in a trailer.
