My anecdotal evidence is my own personal travel over the last 10 years, which has been relatively frequent and diverse in location. I meet someone from the south and/or hear someone other than myself say yall almost every stop.

Lots of people spelled int ya'll or yall before auto correct. Y'all is a yankee spelling. Faulkner and Hemingway both spelled it as ya'll. And the reasoning is because ya was already slang. So ya add all and you get ya'll. This the the reasoning for Yankee ignorance in southern linguistics. Anyone that has taken a linguistics class knows language is fluid. Try taking a history of the Spanish language or evolution of latin or history of Germanic languages. Merriam dictionary is terrible and communist. They ruin communication and slant freedom of speech in how legislation is written.

I can't fricking stand it when people use it on the west coast. They shite on our accent and culture constantly, yet want to use phrases from it.

I’m still a big Y’all man myself, but I’ve been told that “You’ens” is proper when addressing “Y’all plus Them.

Y'all - two

All y'all - plural

So, I would think the possessive form of "y'all" would be "y'alls".

Definitely! You're thinking too much. All y'all are.
