Do you want 350 million people all getting along and agreeing with each other? Or, would you rather keep them divided and look to you as the only way get through get this? Divide and conquer works every time.

My grandfather was the son of a servant. He grew up went to war, went to college, and became very successful. Only thing holding these people down are excuses and laziness.

Like everything in life, it is a relative perceived reality depending upon the vantage point of he who attempts to see it.

So, technically.... YES, it does exist but it exists subjectively to he who feels disinfranchised for one reason or another..... But because it exists subjectively there is nothing you can or should do about it

Yeah, lots of white people wish they had been born black to enjoy those privileges.

I use to share that sentiment, but not anymore. The biggest downside to being black is the crappy way that many other blacks treat you if you try to succeed.

Now, I look at men like Kenneth Polite, the U.S. Attorney in New Orleans, and Jason Williams, attorney and City Counselman. These two guys are smart and professional and have no chip on their shoulders. They rose to their positions mostly because of their smarts and hard work, but to be honest, it helped that they were black. There's no denying that reality.

I'm now certain that if I were the same person I am now, but were black, doors of advancement would be opening for me all over the place. I'm sorry if that sounds conceited but I know it's true.

ETA: That should read "no chip on their shoulders". I admire both men.

I urge everyone to look presentable, smile, and be confident. Be able to hild conversations in many different situations and make people comfortable around you.

That's where the privilege be at.

It a term that conveniently didn't come on the scene I until we had a black president. Very odd.

It's a hypocritical statement and racist to make a blanket statement to say a white person had an advantage over anyone else.

Economic factors and family influence have a much bigger effect on someones life. A rich black baby with a stable family environment has a much better chance at life than a poor white child from a broken home. That's just a fact of life.

Yes, but it has been warped in a lot of ways that it is presented as an excuse for black people and entitlement for all white people. It is more of a statistical observation than an individual obstacle. That is to say that you can't take one individual white person who may have grown up in a broken family and say that he has definitely had it easier than a given black person.

Take for example that statistically speaking a white person is more likely to come from a more affluent area that has access to a better school system. Because on average populations of black people in America are less likely to have a good education simply because of access they are also less likely as a population to succeed. This is an example of what is meant by systemic racism. Because of structural reasons that have been built over a long time (e.g. white flight as a contributing factor in this case) the black population starts off a step behind in the competition.

Its real to an extent. There is certainly less profiling and more advantages starting off.

It's not as severe as is often reported or perceived however.

That seems to be the crux of the issue. Is Wp real? Yeah. Is the degree of it overstated? Yeah.

Yes, it's real. But it's not a bad thing. It's a paradigm of thinking other cultures have toward you. Our white culture and white ancestors have laid a solid foundation for us to thrive. Look at how other cultures view the Orientals, etc. If you want privilege, you must create a positive image of your culture from within. Some cultures have a hard time doing this.

I think white privilege certainly exists, but not to the extent make it out to be.

I realized this happened when I was riding with a fellow (black) student in grad school. We were pulled over for a inspection sticker. Two cops came to each window. This guy I was with is about as smart and articulate as they come. The cop really went in on him, all kinds of questions, and accused him of having an attitude. I certainly did not think he did. I was simply asked if I knew the sticker was out of date. When they left I got a "have a good day" and the other student got a "Don't make any stupid decisions".

While I know this seems small in relativity, but because I was white, I received much nicer treatment than my fellow student, because he was black.

Racism still exists, and that is where I think the "privilege" comes from. If a nice clean cut white guy goes into a store, nobody is going to watch him like they might a man of color.

I think the "privilege" ends there. I do not think it is more than stereotypes, and those who act upon them.

Cops like easy targets. It's that simple. I've been "profiled" before. It's not only black people. Half or more of the shite they do is a money grab. Try not to give them a reason to attempt to take your money.

This is just as fricking stupid as saying welfare recipients have it made. Feel free to join them if it is such a sweet deal. Quit your job and have some kids with a black woman and you can set your family up for generations.

Its stupid. It reeks of blacks being inferior. If they want to wear that coat then fine, but dont try to drag me in it. I usually just follow it up with you dont know how it is to be white, which is equally as ignorant as claiming whites dont know how it is to be black.

This. Much like the BLM movement, there are some kernels of truth with "white privilege" but it makes it difficult to take someone seriously when they cover it in layer after layer of hyperbole and outright lies.

So aren't you happy you don't belong to that group? Wouldn't it be frustrating to be a good person hindered by the actions of what still amounts to be a minority of your own race? Wouldn't it suck if ignorant people across the country considered you guilty by association?
