Is Tulsa really that bad?

I am watching First 48 and it seems like all of the episodes are based on Tulsa. This episode a dude ran over 3 homeless people. And a previous episode where a dude killed his ex girlfriend because she realized he murdered her ex fiance years prior.
I never would imagine a city being worse than Montgomery, Little Rock, or Shreveport.

Well, when spelled backwards, it’s A Slut.
So go from there.

I think Tulsa has the highest prison population per capita in the country

Not much to do when you're living on Tulsa time.

They do a lot of shows in Atlanta too.

There are some parts of Tulsa that aren't bad, Midtown, Brookside, places like that. Then you get to North Tulsa, and you really don't want to be in North Tulsa once the lights go down.
Fun Fact: The LivePD crew are in North Tulsa.

Well ATL is huge and crime is more often times localized and has people from all over traveling through the area. Im just trying to understand how a city in OK can be so violent.

I mean, it's a show that follows homicide detectives, it doesn't make any city look good

Just like most big southern cities, Tulsa has had it's problems with racial violence and crime. But overall, Tulsa is a nice, mid-sized city (not town) with lots of diversity and culture, much more so than OKC, which is bigger, but has much more of a "corporate, suburbia, southwestern" feel - in many ways, Tulsa is a bigger, more thriving version of Shreveport. They managed to survive the many downturns of the oil and gas industry by keeping a lot of the bigger energy companies and pipeline companies versus Shreveport who lost thousands of corporate jobs @ TETCO, Arkla, Pennzoil/United, etc. to Houston in the late 1980's. It still has some big company support and deeper pocketed independent oil and gas companies that give back to the community. It's much more connected to the "southern" culture than other parts of Oklahoma, somewhat due to population mix and more entrepreneurial spirit within the city - great art and music history, comparable to some of the other big southern cities.

Spot fricking on.
Tulsa has some rough areas (particularly around MLK Blvd., go figure), but it's no worse than BR or NOLA. Also, the surrounding suburbs are super nice with good schools - Jenks, Bixby, Broken Arrow, Owasso etc.

It's an up and coming hip city. It does have a high crime rate but it has some nice areas too. I did think my Uber driver was taking me into a setup. I was drunk and dont really know Tulsa. We ended up on a dirt road near the the big power plant you can see in the other side of the river. Turns out my wife had put the wrong address into the uber app.
