No...I'm skeptical that a phenomenon proves anything. Mostly, because I'm kind of tired of how easily people simply go from, "Huh...that's strange," to "Holy shite! That HAS TO BE ________!!"
This reeks of that.
The world would be better served if everyone would take a step back and skeptically look at claims before running around proclaiming things with little to no evidence or information in hand.

I really can't tell if people are just trolling or they didn't actually read the article.

You've been here a while...are you ever REALLY surprised by the stuff people will claim to believe in here? Honestly...this place has made me question the sanity of local people I meet who I once assumed were mostly rational. Knowing that with anonymity people seem to loose their damn minds has kind of freaked me out...

I've read about people in the scientific community getting annoyed with string theorists because they haven't proven anything yet. Not hating or anything, I think the idea of a multiverse is really cool, but what is cern gonna prove?

I love how the article explains the concept of a parallel universe and ends with this:
quote:
Meteorologists have debunked this idea, citing an optical illusion called “Fata Morgana” as the real reason for the existence of this supernatural city.
According to atmospheric scientists, like Professor Kenneth Brown, this “parallel universe” is simply a mirage, which distorts objects that are far away. When warm air sits on top of cooler air, this creates an atmospheric duct, which refracts the light within it and creates a sharp image in the sky. Air of different density bends light, and this can make it look like objects are floating.

Sounds like a pretty boring world.

Would be the end of facebook.
Which would be nice.

I would be in the same camp as you, however I vividly remember my mom correcting me when I said "stein". On second thought, perhaps my mom is just a nazi and hates Jews.

Yep. Proof. Right there. It's settled. Pack the bags, fire the scientist. Question answered. Over.

pfft, these motherfrickers can't even tell me if it's going to rain or snow today. Why am I going to believe anything they have to say about this obvious rip in the fabric of space-time?

Ya that's the story these days but it sure wasn't STAIN when we were kids, ask anyone even people who were parents and teachers at the time what they remember. There had to be some kind of mass hypnosis, a parallel universe, a government experiment or something going on.
Literally everyone I know, and we're among the generation that grew up with the books, and my mother, who was an elementary school teacher with a bookcase full of them, says it was STEIN when we were kids. We skipped tracks and wound up in the STAIN universe.

I don't think anyone has said that, only that this isn't proof.

My mother was also an elementary school teacher. She still has these books from the 80's, and I read some to my niece and nephew over Christmas. I'm sorry to tell you, but it was Berenstain even in the 80's. I also remembered it being Berenstein, but I was wrong.

Everyone knows if you look at the books NOW they say Stain but in the 80s they said Stein. Something happened one day where the covers are changed somehow.
