I recently drove an hour to the DMV in Breaux Bridge cause it was the only one I could find an open appointment at. I actually went back in to compliment the workers there. They were polite and efficient. You would never guess they were government employees.

Showed her my license and paid my money. Sent to next window, was 3rd in line there, went fast. Next stop, 4th in line getting photo taken, went quick.
I actually think the DMV is one of the very few things that has improved since Covid (at least in the Nola metro area). Now, you can schedule an appointment in advance. I did that when I had to get a new license last year. I was fully expecting to be there at least one hour, but I was out the door in under 20 minutes.
ONLY delay was when they called my name to come pick up the new license, some large angry woman cut in front of me to start arguing about something unrelated to me (or to the actual license cards they were handing out at that window); it took about a minute before the lady at the desk made eye contact with me, and handed me my license through the next window so I could leave).

Is there anything more frustrating than dealing with DMV?
Yes. Just dealing with people altogether. Bah humbug.

If you ever dealt with New Orleans City Hall you wouldn’t be asking this question. I would feel so lucky to get out of dealing with them even if I had to go deal with the DMV.

They will get up to go on a break when a ton of people are in line
