Is there any more dangerous phrasing of words than "They say..."

Jesus how many times have I heard that in my office the past few weeks. People just spouting off from any old article or weird news source or even worse second hand knowledge from their friends or family who say the same thing. People's lack of interest in fact checking everything they hear before repeating it is one of societies/humans great flaws in my opinion.
