my son has two bats in his bag. One's a -10, one's a -8 now. my daughter has a minimum of 2 bats in bag. One's a game bat only. One's practice and cage bat.

For youth ball, no. They are not strong enough yet. Plus, aluminum is gonna have better pop for kids

Many young kids are strong enough. I have a 9 year old on my team that is 140 lbs. Another one who is 110 lbs and hit a 240 foot grand slam last tournament. (not my sons)

those bats and the ones after them where all way way way hotter than todays bats.

as far as the comment about alloy being hotter than composite...not according to the exit velo data. is sounds hotter so we assume, but even at the younger ages composite is hotter. many times even the 1 piece composites are hotter.

as far as 2 bats, well if you swing composite during a game and are older than 10....you really should not swing that for tee or cage work.

but as you get in that 12-13 year old tweener phase most kids also have a drop 10 and drop 8 at 12, drop 8 and drop 5 at 13 then drop 5, drop 3 bbcor at 14. depending on the pitcher, you swing the heaviest bat you can.

we have a kid on our 9u team that has hit it over the score board in the alleys on fields that the fence is 200 at the lines and fence is 10 foot tall.

I can post the video. 225 to CF and the ball cleared by 25 feet. Wind was blowing out but it was pissed on. Would have been out no matter the wind.

My son is 9 and we use blast sensors. His bat speed sits between 49 mph and 52 mph. The Trampoline effect is real with higher bat speed. I agree with that.

damn he is swinging it. That is a tad higher bat speed than my 9u kid but mine is a line drive hitter, not power. he is only 80 lbs.

with cat 9 pasttime alloy we are at a max exit velo of 54, bat is 27/17. with the easton max 26 drop 12 that i had heat rolled he is at 58 max.....this is all off of tee work.

as far as how many strokes, i dunno but i would send my kids composite bats to be heat rolled and broken in if they swung that. Composite bats are expensive as frick and if not broken in correctly tend to develop dead spots and other issues which not only affects performance but also affects overall durability. longball bats is who i used for the maximum but that is just a cage bat.

Hah.my son weighs 71 lbs. But he's strong. Can hit it over a 200 foot fence now. Lots of XBH. He hit 7 over the fence in coach pitch last year.
