well i know he works in movies and lived in china for a long time, so i doubt he lives with his parents
his name references ole miss, so i presume he went to college at ole miss
i have no idea what he spends per day on food, nor how that is relevant to this conversation

he can't help it. we're more intelligent than his generation, as observed in the Flynn effect
arguing with your average old person in many ways is like arguing with a dinosaur

You sound like your wife hates you.

Yeah, what a retarded argument. Our generation is without question less materialistic than the Boomers. Honestly if you give us a iPhone, a laptop, and a half way decent apartment, I'd say most are pretty content. Our generation doesn't give a frick about cars, so much so that car companies are really freaking out that Generation Y isn't investing in cars, and it has nothing to do with whether their parents buy them or not. They just don't see the need for them if they live in a major city with great public transit. We're brand oriented, sure, but it doesn't mean we "get the best".
And almost none of that applies here.
Ever read this board? It's all about what you drive, what's the latest in technology, and who's got what. And public transportation is an absolute joke along with both sidewalks, and urban high density. Truth be known, if that were such at play you would see it reflected much more, and you don't. People are still graduating and evacuating to the burbs by the droves, giving trendy lip service, but not really having a clue what it means, and not embracing those concepts. It's as much or more a trend to most than an actual concept of change to revert to that which just makes good human sense.
BTW, this from one who does, is approaching the half century mark and most assuredly quite conservative libertarian minded.

you really think the OT is an accurate representation of how college kids and post college people in their 20/30s think and act?

i believe there has been a rebirth of urban areas with gen x/y, actually
the burbs are a crucial part of the boomer generation

older people are set in their ways no matter what you put in front of them

No, but I do think this city is, and most don't know what that is about here, and that's a fact.

so you never encouraged your daughters to do well in school so they could go to college? really?
I tried the subtle road. College means jack shite. If you need a degree to accommodate yourself, then you are a pathetic whore.
I would encourage any person to do well in school because it will only lead you down a road that will put you in better situations. Other wise I would teach you to post silly gifs on msg boards to make you think you were important.
