re: is there a worse company on the planet than comcast?

Apparently if he has to pay for something then the company he is paying is garbage.
This isn't the company incurring additional costs and passing them onto the consumer. This is the company punishing people for finding cheaper ways to use their service.
It costs Comcast virtually zero dollars when I move from 299GB of usage to 300GB of usage. Why do I have to pay more at that point? Why not 400 or 200?
Why not pay per GB like a utility?
Most likely, they've figured out the exact point that most cord cutters hit when they try to stream all their video content and put their "cap" there.
Obviously they have a right to do this. It's their business. But it's a shitty and manipulative thing to do IMO.
But hey, I guess it works because I have a TV package again. So bravo ISP companies bravo. May you die a swift death when google fiber comes to town.

Because too many people like you overload the node, and make the experience for everyone worse, force the company to expend more money in network upgrades, all the while not paying them for additional services your paying someone else for.
suck it up, welcome to a free market economy, I'd charge you too.

bingo.
first they tried to throttle netflix traffic but there was such a huge backlash to that so they've found a MUCH BETTER way to punish netflix users.
next time you're browsing netflix..note the # of "super HD" selections there are now. netflix is only getting better and better (hence MORE BANDWDITH FOR BETTER HD STREAMING) and comcast wants to get paid.
i've had comcast since the VERY FIRST experimental cable modem in nashville.
it was uncapped.
i had speeds back in the late 1990s you couldn't possible dream of.
then they started locking the modems and permanently banning the hackers who found a way to uncap them anyway while they dreamed up 'speed limit' pricing models and now...'data capping' models.
now its pathetic that the country who invented the internet is at the BOTTOM internationally on both speed and high cost.

you're such a tool. haven't you been paying any attention whatsoever to what google has been doing with fiber?
'free market' aka crony capitalism. the only reason comcast is the only choice in town is they helped congress write the laws to prohibit competition.
nothing is more telling than what Chattanooga about 2 hours south of me have done.

Then move there.
Is this really your solution for people who aren't satisfied with their provider?

Yeah, that's pretty shitty reasoning.

LOL if you think there is anything "free market" when it comes to ISPs

It goes fast if you're trying to do without a TV package and stream everything

why caps were implemented.
to be clear, the lost revenue to comcast didnt come from having to add new routers & infrastructure to the existing network to support 300gb+ to users.
the lost revenue is because comcast doesn't like not knowing what that 300gb is made up of.
the cable tv sales are sliding..while comcast continues to gouge the market & raise the price for cable tv, fewer people are buying it.
comcast saw a connection in those who 'cut the cable' and their internet usage.
voila, data caps was born as comcast looks for a new angle to maintain their fat arse MARGINS (tops in the industry)

Because it's bandwidth that is capped by technology, not amount of data

Putting data caps on broadband does not alleviate this problem. Also, we've handed over billions of dollars in taxes over the past 2 decades to ISP's to upgrade their networks, and we still have the slowest internet in the developed world because ISP's reneged on their end of the deal.

Meh cord cutters deserve it because one of the main obstacles is getting a cable users name and password for things such as watch espn.
I hate the way cable tv is structured but I have no sympathy for someone paying extra when they are stealing services.

Then do something about it, you'd rather complain about what you don't have? They need only supply relative to the competition they have, make some new competition. Saying they suck just because they won't give you what you want is just noise.

like I said, there is no free market with ISPs
that is the problem

You really need to research the subject more.

Do you know how hard it has been for Google to get Google Fiber out there? One of the biggest companies in US history?
Posted on 4/28/14 at 1:43 pm to Salmon
There is ATT who sells DSL, there are a number of CLEC's that resell DSL, as well as T1 and Fiber Data connections. Even the Sat company's have a form of data they can pass over those dishes, and then there is always Dialup.
Has anyone ever considered paying for a business connection? They generally don't have limits on bandwidth transfer.
