Is the term "nervous breakdown" still used today?

When I was growing up I always heard about older relatives or parent's friends having a nervous breakdown. Maybe it's politically incorrect now.

I hear it some from the older folks. Always ends up with them being called crazier than a road lizard.

Well nervous breakdown was usually a little more long term than panic attacks. People just call it depression or long term anxiety today

I personally think the medication prevents people from self healing or developing coping skills leading to worsening of the conditions

19th Nervous Breakdown is a very underrated song by the Rolling Stones.

I actually had a nervous breakdown a few months ago (work related). Laying in bed at night watching TV with the wife and just kinda started shaking uncontrollably and cold as hell. That never happens. Is that a nervous breakdown?

All good now.

I know what you mean. People would whisper about how some divorcee’ or widow had a nervous breakdown. I never quite understood what that meant, and the whisperers probably didn’t either.

Today, the crazy chick would take some Prozac, Xanax, and weed, and chill the frick out.

SJWs love to say that something triggered them into a full on nervous breakdown.

Now you’re just making shite up to fit your narrative,

Has that ever happened outside a Tucker Carlson chat?

Nervous breakdown was always followed with he or she lost their job, or their house, or their marriage, or their kids.

People always sounded sorry for anyone that had a nervous breakdown. Almost like they thought it would be better if the person just offed themselves.
