Coronavirus outbreak brings long waits, weed limits at N.J.’s medical marijuana dispensaries

quote:

Tee Franklin drove two hours earlier this week from Lumberton to Secaucus to pick up her prescription of medical marijuana from Harmony Dispensary.

But when she got there, she said, a long line of cars, each with a patient waiting their turn in line, greeted her. As an immunocompromised person battling chronic pain, the crowds worried her.

She’s not alone.

Many patients in the medical marijuana program have immune issues or other comorbid conditions that could make them more susceptible to contracting a serious case of coronavirus. Others are battling chronic pain, anxiety or seizures, and have flooded dispensaries around New Jersey to stock up in case of a possible quarantine.

“Just one person and the whole line can be wiped out,” Franklin told NJ Advance Media. “My anxiety has been through the roof. This could be the end of me.”

Average Cost: One Ounce of High Quality Marijuana

quote:

First we looked at the average price of high quality marijuana (one ounce). Interestingly, the District of Columbia is the most expensive by a significant margin. The three with the highest average price are District of Columbia ($597.88), North Dakota ($383.60), and Virginia ($364.89). These are places where marijuana use is somewhat restricted: In D.C. it is illegal to purchase, in North Dakota it’s only legal for medical use, and in Virginia it’s not legal at any level. The three least expensive states for marijuana, however, are all in the West region and all allow for legal recreational use: Oregon ($210.75), Washington ($232.90), and Colorado ($241.74). The national average is $326.06.

Most legal states have such a large surplus of marijuana that they don’t know what to do with it. I’m pretty sure they had to pass new laws in Oregon last year because people were growing too much to sell

If you're paying $359 in Louisiana.... Well, you deserve to pay that much.

No, better to wipe your arse.

Bunk weed way back in the day was $8-$10 a oz. A lb was $80. Guess inflation took it's toll.

Simpler times. Back when you could get a sarsaparilla for a nickel.

I went to a shop on Saturday not realizing how bad shite was about to get - got one lone cartridge with plans to go to a different shop on Sunday. shite changed quickly and I flew home with my one sad cartridge.

Although that will last me forever.
