What meets that definition today is based on dullards. The masses. What makes your Patek Philippe any different than white Oakleys? The people that buy and envy them.

It's about personal style and comfort.
People should wear what they feel comfortable in, and stop giving a shite what everyone else thinks about their style.

Why? Those are the standards that you're imposing, which are completely arbitrary.
Show me one case in history where you formulated some revolutionary advancement in humanity. Oh, well, it seems like you're pretty fricking pointless.

Well, unless your work and/or social environment imposes certain express or implied standards of dress (and let's face it, most do).

I absolutely don't understand how someone can be so uncomfortable in a tie. Are your shirts the wrong size? Do you now know how to tie a tie? I mean, yes, a long sleeve shirt buttoned all the way up, jacket, etc. is going to be warmer. But outside of the summer months, it's not a big deal. And in the summer months, buy the right clothes that breathe better.

Completely agree. The problem is that I don't feel comfortable (and who does?) wearing a coat and tie walking outside between meetings when it is 95+ degrees in the Louisiana sun, but cultural stigmas say that is what I must do. That is what's asinine.

Right, so then you adapt your style to meet those standards.
This isn't rocket surgery...

Do you wear an undershirt on days like this? I bet you're probably not wearing a poplin or similar light weave dress shirt on days like this either. Do you own a half or quarter lined jacket? If not, why not? Honestly, I live in NY, and that's almost all I own. If I lived in Louisiana, that's all I would have.

Most fatties buy their shirts too tight in the neck. The tie is not the problem. It's the top button on their shirts that makes wearing a tie uncomfortable for those that don't know how to properly size themselves.
I have this problem and I'm no fatty. My neck is large in proportion to my body, so I use collar extenders.
Van Heusen now makes shirts with stretchy collars.

Right. So in other words, you need to give at least a little shite.

Sometimes we have to make sacrifices.
That said, if comfort means that much to you (not saying you specifically, just people in general), then you could always look for another job that does not place those constraints on you.

Because betas post pics of themselves wearing flowers to try and get girls to talk to them. Then they use post after post trying to convince people that it's cool. Then they post defending their ugly shoes that they were wearing in the pic.

I just keep a few hanging on the back of my office door. If I need one, I just grab and go. I'm not wearing it on the drive to work.

I'm as white color as you can get. Hate neck ties and hate suits. In fact, I own two sports coats and no suit. I wear a tie maybe three times a year. Never to work, almost never to a wedding and most likely at a funeral. I generally like non-binding clothes and regardless of the size of the collar, a tie is binding.
