New Orleans has had a renassaince since rebuilding from Katrina began in earnest in 2006. With the state financial disaster, oil decline, movie industry decline, etc, will this drag down New Orleans ending the growth boom that we've seen for almost a decade?

At what point does Louisiana's ineptitude begin to cast a shadow over a thriving New Orleans?

2015 vs. 2014 metro area home prices/sq ft

Every zip (except New Orleans East, the old Fischer area of Algiers, and Plaquemines Parish) has gone up.

New Orleans home prices went up 14%. In 2015 alone. It's San Francisco without the good weather, high paying jobs, relative safety, decent infrastructure, and proximity to Lake Tahoe.

San Francisco? LOL

But I all seriousness, this slow down in oil and gas and looming budget cuts are going to put the brakes on the NOLA boom no doubt.

The Katrina boom ended in 2014, GDP was down a couple percentage points that year from, the prior year.
And it was one of a few major metros to have a negative GDP
So, I think the negative has already moslty been absorbed

This downturn will certainly affect the whole state and is a different animal

I hope not, but probably so. I do enjoy that it provides a constant supply of new teachers and nurses for me to sexualize. New Orleans had a chance for a 100% new beginning. Unfortunately, I see politicians holding back progress still. Hopefully those people die soon, and everything will be kosher
