Is the internet the best example of “a gift and a curse” in history?

If you could pull the plug on the internet for the entire world, would you?

No Netflix and chill?
No TD.com?
I don't think so.

More like mobile phones.
Lots of internet would be worthless if people had to dial up and sit at a desk

I feel like the world was a better place when we didn’t know everything.
Maybe everyone’s voice shouldn’t be heard.
The internet has killed a ton of local commerce.
The Pizza Hut buffet and Blockbuster on a Friday night was hard to beat.

I think the curse of the internet is that we’ve seen a perverse and failed value system that is the antithesis of what brings about human flourishing propagate like a virus over the internet and create an entire generation of nihilistic and lonely outcasts.
And because of the ability to wield a pseudo-morality as a weapon thanks to social media, many people are frankly afraid to even begin to point this out in real life.

What’s the gift part
Having any information available to you in a nano-second is an unbelievable gift. How people have chosen to use it and develop it further is the problem.

We have the access to the collected wealth of all human knowledge, instantaneously, at our fingertips.
And yet, it seems that as a whole, this world is dumber than ever.
It's a Con Nun Drum

We are geniuses if we want to be. Maybe it was better when we were dumber

Artificial Intelligence will be the ultimate gift and curse.

I spent my youth reading voraciously. I consumed every sort of book I could. I was a repository of trivia and useless facts.
Now...people just google. It lacks a certain something
