Excel telephone service was a big thing ca. 1996. I believe it went bankrupt or dissolved.

Serious waste of money. Our company got all the employees a membership, so it didn't cost me a dime, and I still think it is a joke.

Isn't Bill Whittle the other?

yes, to those wondering, it is a legal pyramid scheme ("multi-level marketing"). Collis Temple and Whittle were just in on it like 35 years ago

eta: In undergrad a friend convinced me to go to dinner for one of their presentations. I couldn't find much on it, but Whittle basically drew the pyramid on a napkin. I walked out laughing my arse off trying to explain to him it was a pyramid scheme. he denied and ended up quitting a few months later

Yes, but that's how these things usually work. Since it all depends on how many people that a person has under them, only a small percentage of the people actually "get rich".

I used to sell print advertising. I had one huge customer and a few small, but consistent ones, that were into Excel. The huge one had 800 numbers in his ads and a room full of people in Halthom City answering the phones. He ran them in papers all over the DFW area, in Houston and in Austin. He wanted to run some in Florida too, but I couldn't help him there.

Luckily, for me, they both always prepaid.
