Probably take you 1.5-2 hours.
Wut?
For someone that knows what they are doing, sure 45 mins. But for someone that doesn't, easy 1.5 hours all said and done including clean up, putting your tools away, etc.
ETA:
20 mins removing old toilet, cleaning up water
20 mins installing new toilet
20 minis installing new toilet plumbing
20-30 mins extra

Save yourself a lot of mess and buy one of these instead of the wax rings, changed my life!

Make sure your P-trap is inverted and level to the outside inverter of the extender should be no problem then

Pretty damn easy. Maybe take an hour if you stand there and think about it for 40 minutes. As always, watch a YouTube video beforehand

Yes unless your subfloor is rotten and you have to replace it. Store is 20 minutes aaway and its the only toilet in the camp and your family has all gotten food poisoning from the local Mexican restaurant the night before. You then use wal mart bags in empty paint cans to shite in while new toilet is replaced. Good times.

The old guy that did mine made it look easy.I gladly paid him $50.

All the water from the tank drained out on the floor
i noticed the turn knob on the shutoff valve was missing
There is slight drip still occuring though. I guess i can use a wrench hopefully to turn off the valve.
i bought a new wax ring kit.
i just called someone and they quoted 300 bucks to change out... I will NOT fork that out for something that I seem capable of handling.
Fairly easy.
First turn water off at meter, flush toilet a couple of times to empty tank.
Remove old water valve. This needs to be replaced. If something happens like you get drunk and fall down on top of the toilet and break it you will not have an easy way to turn off water. So fix that first.
After new valve is installed turn off valve and then you can turn water back on to the house.
Unbolt told toilet and set it into a large garbage bag. This will keep whatever water is in the trap or still in bowl from leaking all over your floors. Also there will be wax residue from the old wax ring on the bottom of the toilet and if you set it down somewhere thats just nasty.
Use a putty knife to clean up flange and remove any wax from it. Try to not let big globs of was fall down into the line. If the flange is properly installed (flush with the floor, a standard wax ring will be fine. But if for some reason the flange is below the floor you will need either an over-sized ring or you can put 2-3 of them stacked on top of each other to make sure you get a good seal. You will want the wax ring to be about 1/2" above the surface of the floor. If you have a little extra wax put a little on the heads of the new bolts (do not reuse the old ones). That little bit of wax will help keep the bolt straight and make it easier to set the bowl on it. While you are holding the toilet and get the bolts lined up, set the toilet slowly and carefully straight down on the flange. The toilet should be sitting about 1/2" off the floor. GENTLY push the toilet down until it touches the floor, do not twist or you can have a gap in the wax ring and toilet may leak. Tighten the bolts but do not over tighten. If you have a tile floor and it is not completely flat you may have to buy a couple of toilet shims, these are wedge shaped plastic pieces that can be put under the lip of the toilet in the area where the tile is lower to keep it from rocking. I prefer a shim that is not a hard plastic because they are a real pain to cut with a razor knife, you will want to cut the part that is sticking out from the lip.
Thats about it. But I would really recommend replacing that valve or at least find a new knob if the old one is not leaking.

I don't get the guys saying 1.5 hours. Anything past 30 minutes would take a lot of lollygagging. 5 minutes to take it off. 5 minutes of nose picking and cleanup around the toilet and removing the old wax ring. 5 minutes to set the new toilet. 10 minutes for a smoke break when you take the old toilet outside and you have 25 minutes.
Also do it when ambient atmospheric conditions are greater than around 70 degrees and you won't get much in the way of gross warm sewage gasses rising out of the pipe. You can VERY LOOSLEY ball up a wad of toilet paper and insert it into the sewage pipe to keep the sewage gasses down. You want it loose enough that when the water from the toilet flushing hits the ball it will flush down the pipe but tight enough it holds itself up until the water hits it.

Since the OP has never done it, we're assuming he'll take longer by removing/replacing everything slower than those of us that have done it before.

It's similar to this if you don't know what you're doing.
