Loved ten year old charter. It was the whole family's drink of choice. Sucked when they got rid of it

The beginning of the problem was allocation. Buffalo Trace's products, in general, surged in popularity. Then came the 10 year old change to Eagle Rare. This is all about profits. They know what makes them the most money, and Charter 8 isn't it. So, they release that when they can.

Sorta related:

We’re making more whiskey than ever at the Distillery, but demand continues to outstrip available supply, which means all of our whiskey brands remain on allocation. Because of this, brands such as Elmer T. Lee, Rock Hill Farms, Van Winkle, and the Antique Collection (George T. Stagg, William Larue Weller, Thomas H. Handy, Sazerac Rye 18yr, and Eagle Rare 17yr) will continue to be on strict allocation and hard to find for the foreseeable future.

Buffalo Trace, Eagle Rare, Blanton’s, Weller, Sazerac Rye, Stagg Jr., and E. H. Taylor, Jr. will continue to be in short supply, but will benefit slightly from increased production more than a decade ago.

Yep its 8 seasons.. but if u think about it, pretty good considering.. i never understood how so many could like it in our region yet it didnt catch on rest of country... i guess its because they got us when we were young...

boss, our sales are low nation wide. But for some reason, in Louisiana its a 400 percent increase every year! ..
Boss.. wtf? Well... put it in every store down there.. & lets see where this goes..

i can really see it happening like that..

The reason i started this thread, is because i just bought a handle.. i know there are better bourbons out there... but for some reason, i always go back to the charter.. it's like chicken soup.. makes me feel like im home..no matter where im at.. but im so perplexed as to why its hasnt caught on elsewhere... its ten times better than jim beam .. yet doesnt hold a candle to jack...
why isnt it btwn the two on the shelf nation wide?

The Monroe / West Monroe crowd loved some Old Charter 10 year + sprite and two Styrofoam cups for mixing on the go...

Don't you mean a "used to be handle".

The first sign of the end times was when they actually removed the handle from the 1/2 gallon.
