Nah...just obesity. And I've managed to dodge that bullet. Everything else is going great.

I think its hard coded in you that if you are prone to have bad issues, you are likely to be a drug head no matter what.

my only argument is nobody starts out shooting heroin. it starts with MJ. It isn't in most cases but MJ is the 101 introduction course into the drug world.

His arrest record holds the exact timeline for his drug use, I'm sure.

No, it's the penalties for marijuana possession (fines, jail time, being a convicted felon), that lead to the other issues. Once someone gets that criminal justice black mark on their record, it becomes far more difficult for them to make a living outside of the black market. Putting them in jail just gives them more contacts in that world when they get out.

It's not the pot, it's how we treat those who use it.

Maybe for inferior people. What are you getting at?

Do you think weed is the reason he started slanging crack?

Well, it starts with alcohol.

But I get your point. If weed is legal, wouldn't it prevent people from getting into the "drug world" with connections to dealers and criminal activity?

Because weed certainly doesn't frick you up like alcohol in excess and isn't addictive like harder drugs (opiates and less so, alcohol). People also don't get really stoned then say "lets go make some bad decisions" like they do on alcohol.

Its the illegality that creates the gateway, not the substance itself.

Most people drink alcohol and smoke cigs before trying weed. Those are your true gateway drugs

I call bullshite.

What is the first substance most people use in their life to achieve an altered state of mind? Why wouldn't that be the introduction?

ETA: Ok, disregard. I'm too slow.

But were they drinking before MJ?

It has to start somewhere.

Eta- not the first to say that

Replace MJ with alcohol and I agree. Every single person that I know who smokes drank alcohol first. It just doesn't have the same stigma in today's society.

Eta: frick me for not reading the whole thread

I didn't realize there were so many people trying to get alcohol made illegal. We tried prohibition once and it didn't work, geniuses.

I smoke a couple grams per day and have had no adverse effects, not even memory loss. Looking forward to smoking a couple bowls during the LSU bama game this saturday

Yeah, its more of the illegality of it forcing people to go black market route for it that leads to other drugs.

They make connections to drug dealers.

And alcohol is FAR AND AWAY the biggest gateway drug there is. It is addictive, causes people to lose impulse control, etc.
