After watching Treme, nothing seems more fun than going into other areas of the city to check out the customs and celebrations. That may sound ignorant but, as a non-LA resident, Treme was the most in-depth look I ever had of NO.

I've never been. Are you guaranteed to see multiple sets of tits or is that aspect exaggerated.

No, that's a Bourbon St. thing and parades don't even roll down Bourbon. You might see a random set somewhere else, but it's pretty family-friendly everywhere else. That was more of a thing years ago when Bourbon St. flashing started getting TV publicity.

it was a lot of fun in law school. i didn't even get hammered. i'd buy a couple of kegs the two fridays before fat tues, and the revolving door of out-of-town guests started spinning. i lived a couple, two three blocks off St. Charles in Irish Channel, so we could walk to parades easily and home to pee, eat, refill, and escape. Walked to parties (incl cool ones like Anne Rice's). Never touched a car.

Otherwise, f that noise. I couldn't imagine trying to do that as a tourist or even non-tourist visitor.

Not at all! Went to a parade tonight and the kids had a blast. I get a great joy seeing my kids smiling, so no, not overrated

We went to Slidell today. Friend has a business on the route. There were two parades with a break between them. Rolled up about 2 hrs before the first parade, parked on the route. Grilled and hung out before first parade. Then during the break, grilled some more. Had about half a dozen IPAs during the entire day. Wife (no pics) had her daiquiris. Kids had a ton of fun.

Wasn't crowded at all, lots of families.

Well, one day those moments where your family doesn’t want to be around you will come and you’ll regret saying stupid shite like my family guilted me into spending time with them. Some of you need some hard reality checks in life.

I don't mind spending time with them, just not around the alcoholics, crowds, assholes pelting beads, and overly loud shitty rap and disco music.

It has essentially glorified littering. Littering is celebrated in Louisiana. Wonder why at any time during the year there is an abundance of trash on the roads? It’s because the mentality of someone else picking up your trash off the street extends outside of Mardi Gras to the rest of the year.

Standing to grab free stuff is awful.

Going to parties with friends and lover, great.

You’re blaming littering the other 355 days a year on Mardi Gras? That’s a hot arse take.
