For me, yes, it's very overrated. UNLESS, you
are under the drinking age. If that's the case,
then it's the best party in the nation!

Which then goes to a landfill somewhere I guess?
I don't know how many beads I've thrown away over the years. I finally just stopped catching them.

Mardi Gras on a nice day like today cannot be beat

I do understand how a lot of the joy depends on knowing where to stand and how to get to & from though.

It wasn't in the 80's when I used to go. I went back in 2003 and it was fairly boring compared to what it used to be.

Tired of it for many years now for the very reasons the OP posted. Also, I ride a motorcycle and those plastic beads under my tires are no different that someone dropping oil in the streets, especially in turns.

I brought my wife and 2 of her friends to Tip's to ride in yesterdays parade on one of the Clydesdale buggies that her company leased for the parade. Two of them got so drunk they fell asleep on the damn thing and both of them wound up puking their guts up several times along the parade route. One of them had a $50 up-charge for puking in the Uber that brought her home.

To hell with it for me, but I know it's fun for those that like it and it's only a little more than 2 weeks a year. I just choose to not participate.

Subtle Mardi Gras ménage a trois or orgy brag.
Not sure which.

It varies a lot for us. Sometimes we don’t feel like bothering with it and only do a couple local parades and are just fine with it. Sometimes if we have a good group and bathroom/parking hookup we’ll do the hardcore all-day Saturday and/or Sunday uptown Nola and have an epic time.

For me Mardi Gras always has been and always will be overrated.

I partied with the best of them in my late teens all the way through my 20’s but never liked Mardi Gras. I do know everyone’s different and some people love it and I’m good with that too. I’ll stay out of their way. Lol

My interest level varies greatly from year to year. Sometimes it very much depends on weather and temperature.

I’ve seen and been part of most everything that Mardi Gras has to offer from New Orleans to Lafayette to Church Point and Mamou. This year my interest level happens to be near 0. Sometimes I just want to leave for the week. But next year, who knows?

I still like Mardi Gras, but it’s not something I need to do every year.

Is there supposed to be a right or wrong answer? Mardi Gras just isn't going to New Orleans, getting drunk and seeing tits (although it is hard to compete with beer and tits)..

There are other ways people celebrate Mardi Gras.. Like in Mamou. Some people enjoy the balls, etc.

Some people think it's overrated and others don't.

Very overrated.

I hate music, dancing, day drinking, eating, and spending time with friends and family.
