The problem with lucid dreaming is that if you do anything exciting, you increase your heart rate and wake up.

I tend to try and fly, but I'm also afraid of heights, so my heart rate shoots up and I wake up.

I also fly more like the Greatest American Hero than Superman which also leads to a faster heart rate which wakes me up.

Like I said before, learned it from the LaBerge book, slowly turn in a circle in the dream and it tends to ground you in it and you don't leave. Common problem. I've done it and it seems to work. I've stayed in when I knew I was going to wake up. Done it a couple of times. The other time, it changed the scene, but I was still lucid, so it was cool. Both times, though, I did wake up soon afterward, but did stay when I knew for sure I was on my way out. Pretty cool concepts in the LaBerge book. The watch thing, and others, people are saying, are all in there. The book is on line and free to view. It is fascinating, mainly because it gives very good information and tips that actually work.

This reminds me of the idea... when Jesus says roughly that sins against the father & son can be forgiven, but not so much against the holy spirit... The implication is obviously one of eternity, hence time.

To abstract the idea of the trinity, I'd guess the Father would be the mental body/eternal spirit, the son would be the flesh & blood man, leaving the holy spirit to be the sensual soul... sort of what new age types might call the astral body, or perhaps emotional body. If this abstraction is accurate (and I'm not sure), then the implication puts emotion... perhaps manifesting as love/grace (or a lack thereof)... as the pivot point that colors present... but taints or corrupts past and future.

If you're still following me, then consider how the decision to change your emotional outlook even in small things-- towards love/faith/acceptance or towards fear/despair/rejection-- does transform your opinion of objects (or experiences) in the present moment, but also colors your perspective when you view that object in the past. This can be seen to a degree in how we can like someone, but when betrayed, anything good they did in the past is no longer good; or how we can hate someone, but if we come to love them, we can see their past in a new, more forgiving light.

Applied to your question, it would seem you would always have the ability to transform the meaning of your existence by exercising free will to love or not. I don't see why dreams would be different here... You could maybe go Little Nicky on an eternal dream and transform demons into bunnies or butterflies. (Though, paradoxically, to reflect on what Jesus said, every moment you don't also seems to have an eternal permanence.)

Oh, and the hell of your dreams is a caricature of TD... and it is not the devil, but TigerFred chasing you.

Yes, and it's fairly easy to start doing it. It has nothing to do with what you do when you are dreaming though if you want to start having them. What you want to do is in your waking life develop a habit of asking yourself "Am I dreaming?" Then look at numbers or text. Look back at the numbers and text, if they are the same you aren't dreaming. If they change you are dreaming. Anytime you are in a dream numbers and text change as soon as you take your eyes off of them.

Another sign is the light switch. If you turn on or off the lights and the room stays the same, you are dreaming. If the lights work as you expect you are in reality. If you practice this type of thing daily you will start lucid dreaming within a couple of weeks. I went through a phase where I lucid dreamed almost nightly, but got to where I would have trouble remembering the dreams, so I just kind of let the phase go. Awesome to be able to do anything in a dream though, fly to outer space, I became a fish in an aquarium once, all kinds of cool shite.

I had a little leprachaun (sp) that lived in my pocket during my dreams when I was little. We played every night and he would be so happy when I returned. Gradually he faded away when i was about 12. Didn't see him again till I was about 18... he just came back and told me I needed to straighten up.

Obviously it was my subconscious, but I did straighten up.

I lucid dream all the time and conquered the art of doing it like 10 years ago. I usually use the hand trick or jump off a cliff and if I'm not injured, I know I'm dreaming. Flying is the funnest thing to do. Also doing drugs during your dream is fun as frick.
Just don't smoke weed before bed, that tends to make me not dream.

That's not lucid dreaming. Vivid dreams that you can remember and lucid dreams are not the same. If you lucid dream, you are aware that you are dreaming, while you are dreaming.

I know. I actually talk about the lucid part in a different part of the OP.

I guess my dreams are just vivid at times but not lucid. The closest that I've been to a lucid dream is probably when I'm about to hook up with an attractive female and then realize I'm married so I don't go through with it (or I wake up). I'd prefer to just go through with it in my dream because it's 'not real' (even though my wife would disagree).

I had them when I was younger. From around 16 years old until my early 30's. They were fun. I haven't had one in a long time.
I had lucid dreams regularly from about 16-24. The first couple times I had them it felt like there was a clock running as soon as I realized I was in control of my dream. After several times it didn't seem to shock my body as much and I could stay asleep while still being aware that I was in a dream. It's not like I could control the landscape of the dream but I could control my response. The problem was I had some disturbing dreams after awhile and it didn't feel as much like I could control them or get out of them if I wanted. For a while I could literally exit the dream and wake up if I wanted. This probably sounds ridiculous. I'm 28 and can't remember the last time I had one. My laziness has apparently extended to my sleep. My dreams are rarely noticeable these days. I get the feeling I've been dreaming but I almost never wake up in a weird mood thinking about the dream I just had anymore.

Yes on the lucid dream, only a handful of times. I'd be in prison for a long time if it hadn't been a dream.

I've died in a dream. Of course, the dream continued with me as a spirit. And yes, when I woke up, I was, in fact, dead.

Most lucid dreams I've had result in me choosing to fly.

A crowd ends up gathering if I slow down, & every time I try to teach them how to fly (since they are looking at me inquisitively & some directing asking me),

they end up getting pissed with my explanation like no matter what words I use to describe the process , it doesn't help them to understand how to join in the flying. Strange thing is, my explanation makes logical scientific sense, but i never can remember the details exactly when I wake up like I'm missing a crucial part of the formula.

I eventually fall and wake up . They pull me down psychically like lobsters in an aquarium.

I just want to share !!! Maybe next time I should be selfish and not try to teach people but it's not in my nature.
