I was in Specs and the old man cruising the aisles said it's 40 something percent vodka and only 50% tequila. Recommended 1800, Hornitos and some other stuff. Is this true?

Do I want to know what the remaining percentages are?

1800 is made by Cuervo
ETA: I think he was trying to say that it wasn't 100% agave.
“Mixto” is the term given to a tequila in which only 51% of the alcohol comes from agave (specifically Blue Weber) and the rest from sugarcane juice. The lower-end Cuervo is mixto, and says “Made with Agave” on the label. Pepper-hot, but not the best quality tequila, but if you can spend $10 or so extra, you’ll get into 100% agave territory.

Thank you for the explanation

The essence of the OT right here. 99% BS and hilarious answers and 1% shite I didn’t know and am amazed someone does know.

Jose Cuervo is not 100% blue agave, which is reason enough not to buy it. It's a "mixto"...cheap shite.

But yes, made with agave means bullshite tequila
The frick? Are you talking green agave? Blue agave is what good tequila is made from.
Posted on 5/29/18 at 5:45 pm to ByteMe
I’m talking “made with agave” vs “100% agave.”

Tequila, vodka, gin, scotch, etc on the shelf at your local liquor store are all roughly 60% water.
Posted on 5/29/18 at 5:47 pm to slackster
Yeah but that 40% alcohol works harder than the water.

My rule of thumb is buy the cheapest that says "100% de agave".
