Maybe it’s because wealthy people for the most part are pretty intelligent and intelligent people normally have kids that are the same way?
and i think that's unkind to the less fortunate in the long run

My opinion: Honestly it just sounds like jealousy from Jimbo. Fertitta never compared CHS to "students that have special needs or come from poverty," he compared CHS to the entire state as a whole, which includes other private schools. It shows how much better his school is compared to others. ? Also I'm sure CHS has some outliers in their student body as well.
Well you are looking a concentrated small sample vs a much larger sample. In this case, CHS is a smaller population size that has some form of selective admission (like a college). So it's going to be very different compared to institutions that do not have those requirements.
"A few outliers" are neglible because 1) they are probably just average students and 2) selective schools usually remove anything they don't like. They are privately funded so they have the freedom to that. A regular school doesn't have that option ( outside of crime related incidents).
So the Zachery coach is correct in that you're comparing two completely different populations. Add in the fact that even in average public schools with no social problems, the scores wouldn't tend to be that high.

BRHS has an average score of 25.8. LHS, 23. I'd like to know the average scores of the Catholic and other non-public schools.
Didn’t think you will have much luck finding those numbers

Most put them on their website. Episcopal says their average is 27, Parkview 25, St Michaels 23 etc.

I wonder the validity though

I have no clue. They probably aren't regulated like the government run schools on reporting.

CHS did not call out Zachary directly, nor did they insult their kids, only promoted their brand. Zachary coach did both. He comes off like a giant bitch in my book, especially going after kids.

That's really not very good for the money.

A kid that's going to make a 30 on the act would probably do that at any of those schools. Most people send their kids to private because they don't want to live in the burbs and want a better peer group for their kids than public schools in places like BR and Nola can offer.
Either private or they send them to magnet.

I'm a CHS grad from many years ago and I can see both sides of it. Lot of truth coming from the Zachary side, but CHS dickriders will call it jealousy.
If you dont like it, do better.

Ain't none of them nerds playing football for Catholic.
Their All-State Defensive Lineman has a 35 on the ACT and is going to West Point.
Their All-District Offensive Tackle has a 35 on the ACT and is going to Harvard.
Their All-State Center has a 31 on the ACT and is going to Rice.

Not all wealthy people are intelligent, but they are able to go to better schools.
There are poor people who are intelligent, but don't know how to apply it because they don't have the best education and environment to flourish.

Not mutually exclusive. There were some dumb rich kids at CHS.

The only high performing poorer students came from immigrant families (usually Asian). Wealthier kids tended to have a better work ethic and parental support. I dont know what socioeconomic factors cause this but it's a fact.
Well, I’ll tell you what socio-economic factors caused it - and they’re the same that caused the Asian students to do well - two parent households who are committed to their kids’ education. It has nothing to do with privilege or wealth - just parents who care. My wife and I were slightly below middle class when our kids were in grammar school, but each of our four kids were in the top three of their class. But we worked with them every night, so I don’t want to hear this privileged stuff.

Every public high school junior in the state of Louisiana is taking the ACT for free on March 17th this year. Some seniors get to take it again for free as well. This has gone on for a few school years now every March.
As a high school math teacher at a very good public school, it is absurd that the state is forcing some of these kids to take the ACT. I have administered and proctored many of these tests and there are usually 2-3 kids in every classroom who just sleep the whole time and at the 10 minute mark, wake up and fill in bubbles. Then take into account the number of students who don’t give a shite because their parent or guardian(yes singular) doesn’t give a shite.
Talk about making your school average plummet.

Agreed. I'm sure the original intentions were good but some of these kids will never pursue a secondary education. Making them take the test is pointless.
