I’m O but I don’t know if I’m positive or negative.

Really no need in day to day life. If you ever need a blood transfusion, the health clinic/hospital will first do a lab test to see what you are.
In theory, I agree. However, I have spent a good bit of time with loved ones who are hospitalized and can tell you that you that medical folks make a hell of a lot of mistakes. If you or a loved one is in that situation, you'd better be able to keep an eye on things.

I'm the universal donor - O negative. Great for donation. Not as great when you need blood.

I donate at lifeshare every 4 weeks religiously and can't tell you mine without looking it up

TBH, that's a lot weirder than the OP's scenario.

Same. The blood donation companies are forever blowing up my phone to beg.

Same with me. I guess it makes sense to stockpile as much of that type as possible.

Not odd. If you need blood, they will determine your type every single time.

I didn’t know mine until I went into the Army and saw it on my dog tags.

B+ for me. Every time I turned around in the Army, they were coming after me to give a unit. As I recall, they never asked, just took. Continued as a civilian and then I got hepatitis. They no longer want it.

A lot of race drivers have their blood type embroidered on their uniforms, right by their name.
