Got this for Christmas to make old fashioneds with and love it.

LINK

About a capful of this syrup and four dashes of peychaud's bitters make a damn good old fashioned. No fruit - i don't dig on fruits in my old fashioned.

I splurged last week on some Four Roses Single Barrel at Alexander's. Good lord, it's smooth. I think I'll grab a nip or two right now...

How do you take yours? I prefer mine with SoCo.
Same here. Supposedly, the original recipe for an Old Fashioned is made with Southern Comfort.

My mom told me this.

A few splashes of bitters over ice, bourbon, with 2 tsp of sugar, and shake the shite out of it. Drain that over fresh ice into the glass. Break an orange peel repeatedly over the glass. Drop a single cherry in.

Most of the sugar stays in the shaker and it's more of a vibrant citrus bourbon and water rather than crap.

Unfortunately, I dropped my bitters and spent the last 40 minutes cleaning up orange and glass.

About to go pick some mint for a julep.

...oh well.

In this hot part of the year, a Mint julep made with mint from out in the yard, agave light nectar and knob creek is heat killer good.

Crush the ice with the food processor.
