Is it time to stop including CD players in autos?

Everything I play when I drive now is either
Spotify or my Playlist downloaded to my phone from Spotify. Otherwise, I listen to podcasts.
I haven't used a CD in a car in probably 5-6 years. I've got cars that were purchased new in 2016, 2017 and 2018, each with CD players, but none have ever been used.
CD sales have dropped to about 32 million annually. That's about 2 CDs for every new car or truck.
I say it's time this unnecessary expense get cut from cars.

I bought the Carter 2 in a gas station for $5 around a year ago. The only CD I currently own and it will likely never leave my CD player in my vehicle

I drive many rentals for work. I've been in a few 2019 and 2020 models recently that had CD players. I'd say it has been maybe 20%, though, over the passed 3 years or so.

I kinda assumed they stopped putting them in. Every Tacoma and Frontier I checked out a few weeks ago didn't have 'em.

My wife's '19 Traverse doesn't have one. Welcome to 3 years ago.. 
But my '15 Silverado does, and I still use it...

Honestly as a college student I don’t know one person who uses the CD player in their car but whenever I was younger 2005-10 that was the thing to burn a CD. Not relating to cars I know a lot of people who do still collect vinyl records so that is still a booming industry

My vehicle has a CD/DVD player, and a factory TV. The kids have been watching my "Band of Brothers" disk set on longer trips.

I have a 2018 vehicle and it’s the last year that vehicle has CDs.

They should look into putting turntables into cars. As for CD players, I just thought they had extra ones they needed to get rid of.
