Olympics only allow 3-4 players over the age of 23 to play on each team.

Thank you for contributing though I wish it was something new instead of one that has been previously mentioned numerous times.

Ah yes, because your original question was a groundbreaking discussion that's never made it's way to this forum till today.

I just don't understand how these people justify spending all this money for these limited events. How do these hosts think that it is worth it? Is it simply that the politicians agree to it because of corruption, and they can skim off the top? And the people of this country allow the politicians to agree to it because they are too stupid to see the corruption or simply expect the corruption?

The older I get the more the world seems like a strange chaotic place devoid of order and ration.

They need about 8 permanent locations, what did they think would happen when they put it in a corrupt Latino shite hole

Atlanta
L.A.
London
Tokyo
Berlin
Moscow
Beijing

Something like that.

The only problem with 8 locations would be the amount of time that would pass before individual locations would get reused. By the time a city got around to rehosting the olympics, the facilities would be incredibly dated.

An excellent point. Think of how much things progress in just 24 years? 32?

I think yes, maybe. Unless they decide to only allow the countries to host that already have the infrastructure in place to support the games

Also, beginning in Tokyo 2020, the host country can add five sports to the 26-sport program to help local interest. Baseball and softball should be back at least for 2020

Does this mean if LA gets the 2024 games we can add football? That would be very entertaining.

The Olympics are boring now. I can't really put my finger on it though.

For me the TV coverage is way over the top. They started to cater to the female viewership a long time ago.

They of course started to show more rhythmic dancing sort of stuff, but it was the constant up close and personal stories about every athlete that gets to me. Every store is a sob story, "his sister lost two fingers from freezer burn because she ate too much gelato" or "her mom got clotheslined by a clothesline and lost her hearing".

They also constantly tease you about an event that is coming up. "Stay tuned we will be right back with more commercials and sob stories" before you get to see something worth anything.

Yes the TV coverage has reached a saturation point. But those are pretty smart folks who do tons of research about what sells...

Some great points have been made.
