I don't doubt that some stretches are icy and should have been closed, my question is was it necessary to close the entire stretch. The multiple overpasses and main bridge on 190 were fine. Was there not any stretches that could have remained open? With the mess it was creating for so many people, I was just surprised such an extreme measure was taken.

So you would prefer to detour off I10 where it's closed, drive several miles to 190, drive several miles on 190, drive several miles back to I10 where it's open. Rinse. Repeat.

That's some logic.

They are raised bridges with high trees on each side in places, meaning they didn’t get a lot of sun to melt off. Do you thing the state troopers are sitting on the ramps for fun if the road is suitable for driving?

I hopped on the basin bridge for a few miles earlier to test it out, you could ice skate from breaux bridge to ramah.

The high here was like 34. A lot of the snow/ice never melted, and most of what did melt refroze when it dropped below 32.

I think the states too broke to salt the roads/ other resources to keep the roads passable. Much easier to just pass it off on all of us in the form of lost wages and productivity. I don’t ever remember this much of a shutdown, but this is the biggest freeze I remember.

Yeah I’m sure that’s what it is. A conspiracy.
