Is it politically correct to describe someone using age?

Like he is around 50 years old?

If it's relevant to what you're describing don't see why age would be an issue.

Anything other than "human" is offensive.
And even that may cross some lines here in 2018.

Did you just assume gender?

Like NoHo said depends. In my field it’s pertinent info.

I am a engineer and i described this older man by giving an age range. I said he was around 60 years old and the client came back and said i was inappropriate

Age is irrelevant. It is now described as “millennials”, “those that are not millennials” and “ nursing home” age. That’s it, 3 categories.

Sure.
50?
If you are 26, 50 is old.
If you are 75, 50 is young.

I feel bad for you that you have to worry about what is politically correct.

Apparently it is not PC. I went into an office the other day looking for the office manager. I did not remember her name from the last time I was there(a year or two). When I asked the random girl in a cubicle and began to describe her as “an older lady “ , the girl in the cubicle gave me a look like I had just slapped her mama and said “that’s not nice, you shouldn’t say that”. I just walked away and asked someone else.

I’m cool as hell with it. Everyone thinks I am 10-15 years younger than I really am.

Better not refer to a woman like this in the company of another woman.

Would you describe a peer with their age or only someone much older than you? Would you describe their race if they were white or only if they were something else?

I hope you laughed at them.
