I'm merely saying that those things (to any person) are going to trump taking a trip (the main thing I'm saying is a stupid reason). I also said it was my opinion.

And I'm saying they won't for every person. Just my opinion, with a little bit of factual evidence to back that up. There are plenty of shitty parents who should never have had kids. There are zero people that have never had kids that are shitty parents.

Are you close with family? Do you visit your parents and enjoy that time with them? That's something most people enjoy. Even if half of your family is degenerates as someone else stated. You still want to see them (for the most part).

Sure, but that doesn't define anything in my life. Maybe, I'm missing your point here.

I'm just trying to say my points are better than yours

That's odd. I thought I was picking your points apart like warm, soft bread.

Don't try and list some reasons why kids would mess up your life (in the sense of disturbing what you like to do).

I agree, and I think my main theme here has been that you also shouldn't listen to people tell you your life is "incomplete" or you are failing in your duties because you don't have kids.

do you think Mrs.Klebold feels this way about Dylan? How bout Mrs. Dahmer? Think she regrets birthing Jeffery?

I know these are extreme cases, but it would be interesting to know what they think/thought.

You've more likely never met anyone that will admit to regretting their children. There are some shitty people in this world that do much worse.

Just not wanting them. If you don't ever want a kid, don't have one. But don't act as if it is your lifestyle that gets in the way. As if when you are 50 you will sit back and say, you know I could have had a kid, but we kept having these trips. That's stupid.
no this reasoning is stupid in my opinion... a kid would totally get in the way of my lifestyle, I do not make 100k a year or even 200k to justify having a kid and continuing the way I live.

so it's not impressive, it's not that impressive to travel. In fact, you can still do it with kids.

actually it becomes harder to travel to certain location with kids, not only are you looking at a higher cost you are looking at less you can do.

I know at least 3 people who are married without kids, though I can't say whether that was by choice or not. I simply don't know. They all seem happy with their decision.

I am glad to see your point of view. if two billion people followed your example and took themselves out of the gene pool, we might avoid the worst of over population.

The problem lies in the fact that it seems to be more the productive/functional in our society who tend to make such choices these days.

You know what else is frustrating as frick? Trashy as hell, ignorant leeches of society never seem to have fertility troubles, do they? They will still pop out kid after kid....even in their late 30s/early 40s....with no medical help needed.

Yet intelligent couples that waited, for whatever reason, are having troubles conceiving. It's amazing how many people I know that needed help having a child.

This is a thought-provoking thread. Thanks to the OP for starting it.
I've seen so many people starting out in life not wanting kids, and they change over time and end up with two or three crumb-crunchers. And most of them have stepped up to the challenge pretty well. Birth control only goes so far. As long as you have young men and women pre-occupied with doing the one thing that produces babies, we're gonna have enough of them to have hope for a future. Imagine if the women of the world held a press conference tomorrow and announced "No more babies!" There would be societal chaos, panic in the streets, financial markets collapsing overnight!
