I love the OT so much sometimes.

Guys, I was thinking about murdering this dude I don't like.

Is that legal?

TIA

So you catch someone on video doing something unethical enough in the office or out in the field that will no doubt get them fired. You want the person to learn their lesson yet really don't want to get a man fired. Would it be illegal to show them the vid, then ask for $1000 to keep it quiet?

So YOU are the one being extorted.

Ahhhhh......

Must be rough being cuckolded. Shouldn't have let your wife bring the bull to your office after hours. They had surveillance you didn't know about.

Good luck.

just ask them if they want a keychain with the video...then you can say you sold the keychain for $1000

I did this to myself one time. Nothing ever came of it, so you should be fine.

I think it's a great idea.

Just wondering though how you came up with the random $1000?

Do you think that's the value of his job?

Vague works for the prosecution.

He should put the video on Ebay with a reserve of $1000 so anyone can buy it, if the guy is smart he will buy it himself. It will totally hold up in court as not blackmailing!

Years ago, guy gets a letter with a "story" about the recipient. Letter says "I intend to sell the story to 60 minutes but you can buy it for $1000." Postal inspectors stomped all over the sender.

Blackmail with the use of the mail or internet or telephone invites federal charges.

If it was legal, it would be called whitemail.
