My dad was a top 500 player in the 70s. He hates what chess has become. It’s all computer analyzed and no one takes any risks anymore.

Winning worked wonders for Fischer. Between being in prison in Japan, told by the United States that he was not welcome in his own country because of a chess match and having to live the last few years of his life in Iceland.

When our usa guy as adult played spassky for world championship 1972 it was USA v Russia.
