My niece was on a “National Champion” cheer team and I swear every time I get on Facebook, one of my friends’ daughters has won All-American or a National Championship. I swear I’ve been seeing this for years.

Edit: I think it might be a scam by Disney World to get groups to come in and get a trophy.

Is your son's squad a national champion?

No. He came behind another guy. And still had time to make it to the competition later that day.

Solution: quit creeping your friends daughters facebook pages.

Did it occur to you that maybe my friends are the ones that post about it?

I did but I deemed it unlikely. Plus it would have ruined my joke.

Any idea which one is sanctioned and which one is a bunch of shimmer and shine?

My uncle invented the G E A U X cheer.

True story.

Remember when all the cheers started off with, “OK!”

That was always my cue to wood.

Different types and levels I'm sure. Did show choir in highschool and we had a national competition at the end of the year. One year it was FAME in Florida, did a few in Nashville, Chicago, all over. There were other national championship competitions hosted by other programs.

Yes I know, it sounds gay.

Just like everybody's kid plays in "the World Series" just about every summer.

I thought the real National Championship was in Daytona Beach.

Hi, cheer dad here. Most of these comps always claim a nat champ of some sort despite only competing against other local or regional teams. The only ones that really matter as far as a "true" National Champion are NCA in Dallas, Summit & The Worlds in Orlando. Everything else is just for cheer moms to brag about on FB.

Edit: And of course the college & high school cheer championships. My OG post is referring to all-star cheer.

That sucks. Daytona is struggling.
