Not at the same time but lots of people have served in more than one branch.

A guy in my Army Reserve unit got caught after he joined the LA National Guard, he figured he had time for two weekends a month and two summer camps and could use two checks.

My father served in the army during the Korean War. After being discharged he joined the Air Force until he retired.

The LA Guard was probably aware and didn't care. They are corrupt as frick and will fudge numbers and statistics of the state's personnel status to report to the National Guard Bureau so they get more funding.

When I got out I was thinking about going into the LA National Guard and I had two friends that I went through AIT with that advised me not to do it and told me their unit was all kinds of screwed. I heard they didn't have their shite together ,but if that is true that is a whole other level of fricked up.

That's the Louisiana National Guard in a nutshell.

My granddaughter wanted to join the A.F. but because of meds she took in H.S., the A.F. refused her. She joined the army and I told her after her first enlistment she could possibly transfer to the A.F. New several soldiers that did it when I was in the A.F.

I heard about this one guy who was a former Navy SEAL, Army Ranger and a Green Beret. Served six tours in Desert Storm, four in Bosnia, three each in Angola, Somalia, Mozambique, Nicaragua and Sierra Leone. Recipient of sixteen Purple Hearts, three Congressional Medals of Honor, seven Presidential Medals of Bravery and was starting tight end for the University of Texas, El Paso.

What about the military of two different countries?

My son has duel citizrnship and is considering serving some time in the Australian Navy or Air Force, then re-enlist in the U.S. military. Why? Just because he is in the unique position to do so.

The general answer is yes but it is unusual, especially while under contract. I remember a while back (possibly still active) something called Operation Blue to Green for moves from the Navy to the Army.

My squad leader (Army Airborne) had been in the Navy on submarines. He had the "dolphins" badge or whatever it is to signify he was a sub guy. In ever single inspection we ever had some officer asked "What the hell is that on your uniform". It was pretty funny.

Not at the same time. My father served a total of 21 years. Enlisted in the Army after high school, went into the reserves, a great uncle of mine who was in Pearl Harbor convinced him to join the Navy, got out for a year then went back in the Army.

He had a commander once that tried to give him shite about his dolphins when he'd wear his class A's or B's. He had that and a deterrent patrol pin.

Some guys I served with got out of the Marines and went straight into the Army. At the time they were offering promotions from your current grade and a sizeable bonus. It wasn’t a bad deal at all.

Served with a couple guys that did just that. I had a battalion commander who was enlisted in the Marines, went to college, then got a commission in the Army. Dude looked like Mel Gibson on steroids.

I can't imagine how bad your pay would be screwed up if you were in two services at the same time.
