follow up on this....a maternity ward in NYC tested all pregnant women that came in to have babies -- 14% test positive for COV 19 - only 2% ended up having symptoms, but not bad enough that they would have gone in to the doctor - so that means people everywhere are walking around with it

There is a lab in Covington doing it for anybody that wants it, no MD referral needed
For a fee of course.
He ran out of the $60 kits and can do labwork tests now for $170

An Occ Med clinic in Baton Rouge tests about 20-30 patients per day. It's mostly clients that have been exposed and quarantined and want to go back to work, but they also test the private sector as well. Results for IgM and IgG within 10 minutes.

I’m currently doing antibody tests in TX.
Blood is sent to Vibrant America Clinical Lab in California. Results take about 2-3 days.
I was told that we had positives in five out of the first seven samples.
Tests for IgG, IgM, and IgA antibodies specific for the SARS COV-2 (COVID-19) virus.
I was surprised to hear this many positives.
I wonder why it didn’t affect the population previously. I can only guess that it may have mutated in Wuhan.
So many questions.

That's just not the case. At all.
If millions of Americans have it or had it at a time before the extreme measures were implemented, how do you square this logic?
If antibody tests reveal a large number of Americans had the virus, either this thing moved through the population before stay-at-home orders were issued and they were pointless, or it spread despite those orders, and they were at best marginally effective. At that point, you have to reassess the value against the negative consequences.

Ordered some and was told it would take 2 weeks to arrive

Widespread antibody testing to the degree you are referring to is likely months away. I'm talking about what we should do with the data we have. The rest is speculation.
We should definitely begin methodically opening aspects of our economy, but gradually with restrictions while monitoring for spikes in cases.

No reason to be months away. You test small control samples and get a very good idea of the overall picture. Then you keep the old and unhealthy at home while the young slowly return to normal life. At that point, you are months down the line and likely have testing available for all.
This whole idea we need to continually kick the can until it’s perfectly safe is absurd. Life’s a bitch. We need to live.
