No, and that is typically what is used to repel boarding parties; however, there are only so many. Also, these frickers usually have RPGs and you don't want to be chancing that the hull will hold when you are in a floating gas can.

My guess is the small boats were launched from a larger vessel that ordered the tanker to stop. The tanker than lowers their jacobs ladder. It’s typical naval tactics. We do the same thing.
This is why it’s so important we maintain a US military presence in the Persian Gulf. Specifically the US Navy. Iran would not dare try to seize an American flagged tanker.
