Woke up this morning to the girlfriends iPhone hacked. Several texts messages were received in Arabic and Japanese etc.. all contacts were erased but the numbers remain.

I just read some articles on CNN about this hack. It sends a text that crashes your phone. The message only needs to be received not opened for the crash to occur.

Has anyone seen or heard of this? Is there anything I can do before the apple store opens today?

ETA after multiple attempts I was able to change the apple I d password.

I message has been turned off as all messages were in blue.

There was a post on here about this last week. Don't know what the OP did to fix his problem, though.

Don't know what you can do to fix it.....but any iOS below 9.3.5 is vulnerable to it being hacked.

Happened to me last weekend. Woke up to a notification that my account had been logged-into by a random Mac somewhere and a bunch of texts had been fired off in Chinese. I called Apple and changed my password and security settings. Luckily I never use iTunes so the credit card in there was old and no longer valid.

I'd probably smash my phone with a hammer if I started receiving random texts in Arabic
