Interview Follow Up Timeline

I went through 3 rounds of interviews over the past two and a half months with a Top 30 company HQs.
Last week I was interviewed by the VP on Tuesday over the phone. For 15 minutes.
I was told prior to the interview by the HR person I was in Group A (whatever) when they had HR guy call and talk to me about salary prior to VP interview. Mind you the second interview was 3+ hours long.
It's been a week and three days since that interview and no word. When I asked the VP the timeline, he basically said the hiring manager or HR rep would reach out to by next week. They still had more people to interview and I was the first of the 3rd round.
I sent an email over to a contact and it was forwarded to Recruiter. She basically said "He'll provide an update when there is one."
Having hired people in the past, I'm starting to feel this is the long march to "No thanks". But I don't think after bringing someone through three rounds of interviews you'd go radio silent. Seems weird.

Not to be the bearer of bad news, but it sounds like they're trying to negotiate salary with another candidate and waiting for him to accept, but keeping you on the hook in case that doesn't work out.

Wait it out for another week, doesn't sound like they are in a hurry.

Just send them emailing asking what's up. "You baws hiring me or not"

Yup, unfortunately they don't care about the people they don't hire. It sucks that they do let you know, but that's the way it works now.

I work in HR. We get this question all the time. Some companies are shitty and won’t ever get back to you, but on the flip side you’ll always at least get a call from us shortly after.
In addition, you never know what’s happening on the back end. I had a position open then got admitted to the hospital for two weeks. My admin could only handle so much for me. We have one girl out right now for an emergency surgery for 1 full week, life happens and puts a delay on everything. Sometimes businesses have a priority above hiring. Never hurts to call/email for a follow up.

Sorry but that sounds like a "no thanks."
Though after what you posted on the Money Board about your tax bill, I'm not sure I feel too sorry for you.

Been trying to get a position with the State. I feel your pain. Three interviews in a week's time. Still waiting half a month later all they'll tell me is that they're still waiting on a final decision from HR. Probably s.o.l.

That's fine but they need to be upfront. I'm not some new college grad. I just think it's shitty I took days, literally out my schedule to go up there and sit down with them, etc.
Then just not even give me the prompt courtesy. I think that gets me more than anything. I never let people hang out during my interview process. I let the legit candidates know what was up when they weren't chosen.

I understand. You come in and interview, you don't like them. Whatever. Move on. Form email.
They HR guy called me. Negotiated. I went through another interview with the VP.
At this point, I'm just pissed off at these shenanigans to not give a common courtesy of "hey baw, went another direction. Goodluck." No. It's been a week and a half. You should know what you're doing with Group A whatever the frick.

It’s only been a week man. I’d sit tight for a little while longer, someone may be out on vacation or sick that has to approve some shite. They may not be done interviewing, likely you weren’t the only candidate and sometimes scheduling is a nightmare escpecially with an out of state candidate. A week isn’t a crazy timeline; it’s friday, you may get a call by EOD
Edit: missed that you already negotiated. My bad

They asked me what I wanted. It wasn't much a negotiation.
I'm probably hypersensitive because I hate this place I'm currently at with a passion. People take a vacation, etc. I'll just wait it out.

Keep your hopes up man, don’t get down about it. I’ve been in the spot you are in hating a job and wanting to move on. The wait will likely be well worth it. Good luck!

If you are not called back within a day after final interview, it means you are not first choice.
If it is couple of days then they are on to second choice or are closing deal with first. People who hire for a living suck

Hiring managers who can’t make up their mind are a tad worse. People who do the hiring don’t just sit around and jack off all day purposely avoiding not getting back to you. Within any large company there are multiple people/approvals involved in the process.

Give them a call. I was told that I'd get an answer within a week, didn't get one, and then started salary negotiations at week 3 without any communications. Didn't take the job, but they spent a considerable amount of time with me. Plenty enough to justify a call within the time they promised. Including myself, there were only three candidates.
HR is filled with people who think painting their nails is more important than hiring people that are critically needed. Remind them of their job once a week

They have no intention of hiring anyone. They’re probing the interview pool for insight around their business.

I'm going to give them another week. It hasn't been a full two weeks. I'll call next Friday if not for anything to prove a point.
I just feel like my time is worth something and calling me after rubbing my dick for three full interviews, spending an entire day on their campus and then walking me through the compensation discussions isn't much to ask.
I know the VP isn't the hiring manager or HR but timely service should be at the top of their list for this level of hire in the organization. But F it. What do I know?

It sucks. And the more that you hate your current job and want a new opportunity the less they want you because they will see you as someone who wants to get the hell out more than someone wants to join them. I doubt you’d say anything bad about current employer but they can pick up on stuff like that.
I would love to interview with an attitude as if they would be lucky to have me - And see if my arrogance could attract them. Not Baller enough to do that though
