Also did anyone notice what looked like a smaller satellite going in opposite direction. Probably a plane but didn't see the little red lights

MadamSquirrel and myself saw that in Denham. Very much looked like another satellite headed almost directly for the ISS

I looked down for a split second to check compass & looked back up and it was gone.

Was wondering same thing if they cut off lights.

Crazy that thing is in orbit at 17,500 mph and we can see that bright arse light all the way down here.

That was first time i have ever seen it.

Pretty freaking cool.

Did they shut off the lights or was it just so bright coming out of the west because of reflecting sunlight?

Excellent sighting conditions tonight!

Where I was standing, a plane flew overhead just before the ISS. Great opportunity to contrast the difference in visuals they present.
These are my impressions, please anyone who is an expert feel free to correct what I'm basing them on.

Plane: flashing strobe lights and somehow you can tell that it is closer and smaller even though its light seems bigger.

ISS: light is VERY bright and solid (because it is reflecting the sun, not emitting a manmade light).
Again, even though the ISS light is smaller than a close-flying plane, somehow you can tell that it is a bigger object , further away, flying faster. Really hope someone will jump in and explain the physics.

This pass was high enough and lasted long that you could tell when the earth's shadow began to cause the reflection to to dim...and then it disappeared while still high in the sky.

Really, really cool to have it exactly overhead and imagine the people in it and what they could see out way beyond our range.
You go guys!

You can tell it's the ISS from how fast its going across the sky. No aircraft can come close to it. It always has a blinking not solid light for me in S. Louisiana

Hey Tiger. Just want to say thanks again for the heads up on this. Had the family outside watching it. Very cool!
