Just got this in an email, I assume it's true...

* There are three sets of fathers and sons on the Wall.

* 39,996 on the Wall were just 22 or younger.

* 8,283 were just 19 years old.

* 33,103 were 18 years old.

* 12 soldiers on the Wall were 17 years old.

* 5 soldiers on the Wall were 16 years old.

* One soldier, PFC Dan Bullock was 15 years old.

* 997 soldiers were killed on their first day in Vietnam ..

* 1,448 soldiers were killed on (what was supposed to be) their last day in Vietnam before going home

* 31 sets of brothers are on the Wall.

* 8 Women are on the Wall, Nursing the wounded

* 54 soldiers attended Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia.

May God Bless em all.

If you add the 18 year olds and 19 year olds its higher than the total under 22

I knew what they meant, and I'm not making light of their sacrifice, it was a big fat fastball that I couldn't hold off of

There is at least some data there that appears contradictory. For instance, the sum of 18 plus 19 year olds is larger than the total cited as being 22 or younger.

Still interesting.

ETA: ParkMTN beat me to it.

What a waste of lives that war was, and the disrespect our veterans received when they returned was shameful.

yep, I have a couple of friends that did that, they needed bodies and it's not like people were banging on recruiter's doors trying to get involved in that war, the guys I know that did it joined the Marines

yep, but the bending over backwards to overcompensate with this generation's
vets has gotten to be a bit much, every REMF that put on a set of fatigues and never left the states is not Audie Murphy

ETA: * 54 soldiers attended Thomas Edison High School in Philadelphia.

probably lots of examples of this, when Trey Prather was KIA, half of his Woodlawn HS teammates dropped what they were doing and enlisted to go and exact revenge, I believe they all came back, physically, but I know a few of those guys, and it really screwed some of them up for life

Having a son close to this age really puts it in perspective. So terribly sad.

Where did you get this info?

These two seem suspect:

started to post this yesterday in the most emotional thing you've witnessed thread, I went to the Christening of a US Navy ship that was named after the cousin of a good friend, the ship was named after a Marine Sgt. killed in the VN war that was posthumously awarded the MoH, very emotional day, he was killed a couple of months shy of his 21st birthday
